John Van Tryp

John Van Tryp is the CEO and a founding member of Quattro Farms, where he provides strategic leadership focused on innovative farming systems and responsible land stewardship across the operation.

He is actively involved in industry leadership and governance, serving in board and advisory roles with FP Genetics, Taber Home and Farm, Forty Mile Pollinators, Forty Mile Turf Seed and various volunteer boards. He is a former board member of AFSC and the National Programs advisory committee, contributing broad experience in agricultural policy, finance, and sector development.

John holds an Agriculture Diploma from Lethbridge College and has completed executive education at the Ivey School of Business and ICD Board Governance training.

Nathan Nieboer
Director of Operations

Bow Island, Alberta, is home to Nathan Nieboer, who serves as the Director of Operations at Quattro Ventures. He has worked at Quattro since its inception in 2010.

Raised on a mixed irrigation and cow-calf farm near Picture Butte, Nathan developed a strong foundation in agriculture from an early age. He went on to graduate from Lethbridge College in 2005 with a diploma in Business Management. Initially, he managed a retail store, but when the opportunity arose to return to agriculture, he eagerly did so.

In his leisure time, Nathan enjoys snowboarding, camping and mountain biking with his wife and son.

Pamela Devins
Controller

Pamela Devins serves as Quattro’s Controller, bringing extensive experience in accounting, finance, and administrative operations within the agricultural and private‑sector landscape.

She has held progressive roles including Accounting & Finance Manager and Senior Accountant, where she supported financial reporting, reconciliations, and operational administration across both remote and on‑site teams. Pamela is known for her ability to build, optimize, and maintain financial systems and processes that improve accuracy, efficiency, and scalability, while supporting clear reporting and information decision-making.

She holds a Bachelors degree from the University of Saskatchewan, along with a background in Business Administration (Accounting) from Medicine Hat College. Pamela has further strengthened her expertise through advanced nonprofit accounting training with BDO, earning the Certified Nonprofit Accounting Professional (CNAP) designation.  Her work reflects a strong focus on financial reporting standards, applied accounting practices, and the development of sustainable systems that support organizational growth.

Emily Ford, M.Sc., P.Ag.
Senior Agronomist

Emily Ford is the Senior Agronomist, overseeing agronomic strategy, crop production systems, environmental stewardship, and food safety across our farm.

She has over 20 years of experience in applied agricultural research and sustainable crop production, with a focus on improving productivity, resource efficiency, and long-term soil health. Her work includes leading on-farm agronomy and contributing to sustainability and industry research initiatives.

Emily holds a Master of Science in Environmental Science from Dalhousie University and has previously worked with McCain Foods, supporting growers across Western and Eastern Canada. She is actively involved in agricultural leadership and research initiatives, including roles with producer groups and international knowledge-sharing programs focused on regenerative agriculture and modern food systems.

Jack Van Tryp
Irrigation Management

Jack is a founding member of Quattro and has been involved in the family farm for as long as he can remember. With a lifetime of hands-on agricultural experience, Jack now manages Quattro Farms’ irrigation division, where he oversees system planning, maintenance, and efficient water management across the operation. He studied at Lethbridge College, focusing on agricultural technology, combining formal training with practical knowledge. Jack’s deep connection to the farm and expertise in irrigation play a vital role in supporting crop production and long term sustainability.

Benny Knelsen
Seed Operations Supervisor

Benny has been with the team for 7 years. With over a decade of experience in agricultural operations, Benny brings strong expertise in logistics, planning, and execution. Known for his exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills, he plays a critical role in managing seed operations and ensuring everything runs efficiently from start to finish. Benny’s reliability and precision make him a key contributor to the seed division's success.

Juan Peters
Cereals/Dryland Pulses

Juan Peters, originally from Paraguay, has brought a strong work ethic and a deep appreciation for agriculture to Quattro since its inception. With a hands-on approach and a commitment to quality, Juan plays an important role in supporting the farm’s day-to-day operations and long-term goals. He takes pride in sustainable practices, teamwork, and helping Quattro Farms continue to grow reliable, high‑quality crops.

Ben Loewen
Potato Division

Ben has been an integral part of L & H Ypma Farms and Quattro Farms for more than 20 years. Originally from Mexico, Ben began working on the farm, helping to manage potato production, and has played a key role in the operation's growth and success. Today, he oversees Quattro Farms’ potato division, bringing decades of hands‑on experience, strong leadership, and a deep understanding of crop management. Ben’s dedication and expertise continue to be a cornerstone of the farm’s potato program.

Chris Reusser, CCA
Essentials Oils

Chris brings more than 20 years of experience in agriculture and has been with Quattro since its inception. He began working with essential oil crops in 2009 and has played a key role in developing and advancing Quattro’s essential oils division. As a specialist in essential oil crop production and distillation, Chris combines deep agronomic knowledge with his background in power engineering to manage both field production and processing operations. His technical expertise and long‑term commitment have been instrumental in the success of Quattro’s essential oil program.

Martin Ekstrand
Hemp/Grass/Peas

Martin is originally from Sweden, where he grew up on a mixed farm and developed a lifelong connection to agriculture. He has spent his entire career working on farms and ranches, building broad, hands‑on experience across all aspects of farm operations. At Quattro, Martin is known for excelling with equipment and machinery, bringing deep expertise in maintaining, operating, and optimizing farm “iron.” Alongside his technical strengths, he is highly regarded for his attention to detail in crop production and his steady, effective approach to people management.

Paul Van Tryp

Paul is the Seed Canola Division supervisor and a founding member of Quattro. With a steady presence and decades of agricultural experience, Paul has helped shape the operation from the very beginning. Known for his quiet strength and exceptional attention to detail, he plays a key role in managing seed canola production and maintaining the high standards Quattro is known for. Paul’s thoughtful approach and consistency make him an essential part of the team.

Corny Fehr
Sugar Beets/Beans/Row Crops

Corny is originally from Mexico and oversees Quattro Farms’ beet and bean operations. He began his career at Quattro as a labourer and, through hard work and dedication, worked his way into a supervisory role. Corny has built a strong reputation for excellence in the field, consistently producing sugar beets and beans that rank among the region's top ten. His hands-on leadership, agronomic skill, and commitment to quality make him a key contributor to the row crop division's success.
